Revved Up For The Retro Rendezvous…

Ulverston is going to be buzzing this weekend…it’s the Retro Rendezvous… music, food, dance, cinema, clothes, markets, cars, motorcycles, drink and the famous Velo Retro old school cycling event…how much fun can you handle?

The term ‘retro’ has many definitions…but in it’s simplest terms it means something that is not very old but old enough to be more than just one of last season’s leftovers!

Charity shops are a great place to hunt out those retro bargains…that must have ‘fashionably unfashionable’ item to complete your outfit…the type of clothes not necessarily available in your high street stores… of course they can give you ‘retro style’…’vintage like’ but they can’t give you the genuine article!

Ulverston St Mary’s Hospice shop is open all day Saturday, 10am – 4pm, if you’re in town for the Retro Rendezvous why not call in and have a rifle through our rails!.

The Best Way To Have A Good Idea Is To Have A Lot Of Ideas…Linus Pauling

persuasion-influence-innovative-ideas-2-728

Have you ever wondered where your ideas come from…why all of a sudden they start flowing like water from a tap…and you can’t turn them off?

I don’t know about you but I never just have one idea…it’s a bit like being at a bus stop…you wait forever and then two or three buses come along at once…you have to choose which one to get on board and hope it’s taking you in the right direction!

Grange shop seems to be a hive of activity at the moment as they try out some of their new ideas. Their latest one involves school uniforms!

Saving money on school uniforms must be every parent’s dream…kitting school age children out for the new school year can be a costly venture. How many times have you got to the end of the school year and found some items of uniform have hardly been worn…they look like new but no longer fit your child?

Grange shop can help…they are encouraging families and schools to donate their unwanted new and used uniform to them…on the run up to the new school term uniforms will be on sale in the shop.

If you or someone you know has uniform to donate or needs to purchase items for the September term then make contact with Linzi…drop in at the shop on Yewbarrow Terrace…call 01539532735 or head to our Facebook page, Retail At St Mary’s Hospice and leave a message…we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

The ‘Earth’ Without ‘Art’ Is Just ‘Eh’

Grange -over-Sands is hosting an extra Prom Art this weekend (Sunday 16th) how lucky are we? With a good weather forecast it promises to be a great day.

Linzi and her team are excited by this extra opportunity to show off their crafty wares!  They have frames and pictures aplenty…if you’re looking for a masterpiece for your lounge wall, frames for your own works of art or an up-cycling project…Grange St Mary’s Hospice shop is a good place to start!

Did you see Linzi’s post on our retail Facebook page (Retail at St Mary’s Hospice) …up-cycling an old, donated picture frame? The end result was pretty snazzy!

If the pictures above have whetted your appetite why not give it a try yourself…you can pick up old frames from most of our shops…if you don’t see what you want on the shop floor just ask…we may have it elsewhere.
